A person’s religion is private and personal. We take extra care when we publish it. This page explains the rules we follow.
When we record a player’s religion
- The player has said it publicly, for example in an interview, a social media post or a book; or
- It has been reported by reputable media or published by the player’s club or an official profile.
Each profile shows how we know, and links to the sources, so you can check for yourself.
What we do not do
- We do not guess a player’s religion from their name, country, appearance or family.
- We do not publish rumours, or claims we cannot source.
- We do not write about players’ private religious practice unless they have shared it publicly.
Updating and correcting
Beliefs can change. Each profile shows when it was last checked. If you see an error, or a player (or their representative) wants a correction or removal, please contact us at peoplebeliefs@gmail.com or use the contact page. We review every request promptly.
