What religion is Myles Lewis-Skelly?

Myles Lewis-Skelly is an English professional footballer who is a practicing Christian. He is an active member of what fans and media affectionately call Arsenal’s “Bible Brothers,” a group of players including Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Magalhães who openly share their Christian faith. Lewis-Skelly has frequently given thanks to God in interviews following major career milestones, such as his senior international debut.

While firmly rooted in his Christian faith, he also embraces mindfulness practices to stay grounded. He recently shared that he incorporates Buddhist concepts and breathing techniques, specifically meditating on the Buddhist concept of the “monkey mind” to calm his nervous system, quiet a restless mind, and combat pre-match pressure.

Myles Lewis-Skelly plays as a midfielder or left-back for Premier League club Arsenal and the England national team. He is a product of Arsenal’s youth academy, joining the club at the age of eight. In 2024, he broke into the first team during the 2024–25 season before signing a long-term contract extension.

Lewis-Skelly’s personal achievements include winning the Premier League title and the FA Community Shield, as well as becoming the youngest player in history to score on his senior England debut. He has also represented England at various youth and senior levels, most notably starring at the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup.

Early life and early career

Myles Anthony Lewis-Skelly was born on 26 September 2006, in Denmark Hill, London, to British-born parents of mixed Barbadian and Guyanese descent. His mother, Marcia Lewis, eventually became his official football agent and set up No1Fan.club to support parents of children in academies.

Lewis-Skelly had early trials at both Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur. He eventually chose to join Arsenal’s Hale End youth academy in May 2015 when he was eight years old. He went to Aldenham School and played for both his school team and Arsenal’s academy at the same time. He progressed through the youth ranks alongside Ethan Nwaneri, with both players scoring on their under-18 debut during a 6–1 victory against Reading. Lewis-Skelly also scored a famous late winning goal against Manchester City to send the under-18s into the 2023 FA Youth Cup final. On October 5, 2023, he signed his very first professional contract with Arsenal.

Arsenal

Lewis-Skelly made his senior debut for Arsenal on 22 September 2024 during a Premier League match against Manchester City, coming on for the injured Jurriën Timber. Remarkably, the referee showed him a yellow card before he even entered the pitch for unsporting behavior, having run behind the opposition goal to pass a tactical instruction to goalkeeper David Raya.

In December 2024, he became the youngest Arsenal player since 2011 to start a UEFA Champions League match during a fixture against Monaco. He scored his first senior goal on February 2, 2025, in a big 5–1 win over Manchester City and copied Haaland’s celebration to mark the moment. He finished that incredible breakout season with 39 matches in all competitions. He scored his first senior goal on 2 February 2025 in a 5–1 victory over Manchester City.

However, his first year also included a major controversy. On January 25, 2025, referee Michael Oliver sent him off in a 1–0 win at Wolves for a tackle on Matt Doherty. This made him the third-youngest player ever to get a red card in Premier League history. He concluded his breakout 2024–25 campaign with 39 appearances across all competitions, recorded two assists in the Champions League knockout stage, and signed a subsequent long-term contract extension with the club.

In January 2026, Lewis-Skelly helped his team secure a 1-0 victory over Newcastle United, a win that ensured Arsenal’s qualification for the following season’s Champions League. Four months later, on May 20, Lewis-Skelly won the Premier League title with Arsenal and subsequently started the UEFA Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain, which Arsenal lost on penalties.

International career

Lewis-Skelly played for England’s youth teams from the under-16s up to the under-21 level. He subsequently featured at both the 2023 UEFA European Under-17 Championship and the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup. In March 2025, he received his first England senior call-up for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification matches against Albania and Latvia.

He made his senior international debut on 21 March 2025. He started against Albania at Wembley Stadium and scored a brilliant goal early in the first half after an assist from Jude Bellingham. At just 18 years and 176 days old, this strike made him the youngest player to ever score on his England debut, breaking a record previously held by Marcus Rashford. However, he was left out of the England squad for the November 2025 World Cup qualifiers against Serbia and Albania due to his limited playing time at Arsenal. As of August 2026, Lewis-Skelly has made 6 appearances for the England senior national team.
