What religion is Harry Kane?
Harry Kane is an English professional footballer who is a Christian, having been raised in a traditional Christian household in England. Unlike some of his international teammates who are highly outspoken about their faith, Kane prefers to keep his personal spiritual life strictly private. He rarely discusses religion in public or participates in explicit religious campaigns. However, he has occasionally referenced “God” and “faith” in general terms during interviews, expressing gratitude or discussing how he relies on his grounded values to navigate difficult moments, major career decisions, and injuries.
Ultimately, Kane is a culturally and personally observant Christian who chooses to maintain a highly discreet profile regarding his private worship and faith practices.
Harry Kane plays as a striker for Bayern Munich and captains the England national team. He is England’s all-time leading goalscorer and Tottenham Hotspur’s all-time top scorer, having broken Jimmy Greaves’ longstanding club record in February 2023 before moving to Bayern Munich that same year. He has won the FIFA World Cup Golden Boot, multiple Premier League Golden Boots, and, since joining Bayern Munich, has added Bundesliga titles to a trophy cabinet that had long been notable for its absence of team honors.
Contracts & Salary
Kane signed his first professional contract with Tottenham in July 2010. He went on to sign a series of contract extensions with the club as his career progressed, including a five-and-a-half-year deal reported at $15.6 million in 2015, a further six-year extension reported at $31.2 million in 2016, and another six-year deal reported at $62.4 million in 2018.
Harry Kane transferred to Bayern Munich on 12 August 2023 with a confirmed fee of £100 million. Kane signed a four-year contract with Bayern, reportedly worth £400,000 per week, more than double his final Tottenham salary of £200,000 per week.
As of 2026, reports place his Bayern salary at €25 million annually, or approximately €480,769 per week before bonuses, making him the highest-paid player in the Bundesliga, with total annual earnings potentially exceeding €28 million to €30 million when bonuses tied to Bundesliga titles, Champions League progress, and goal milestones are included.
Early life
Harry Edward Kane was born on 28 July 1993 in Walthamstow, London, to Kim and Patrick Kane. His father’s family is from Galway, Ireland, and he has an older brother named Charlie. The family later moved to Chingford, in east London, where Kane grew up just a short distance from Tottenham Hotspur’s stadium and became a lifelong Spurs supporter. He attended Larkswood Primary Academy before Chingford Foundation School, the same secondary school later attended by David Beckham.
Kane began playing organized football at age six with local club Ridgeway Rovers, the same club where Beckham himself had started out. At age eight, he joined Arsenal’s youth academy but was released after roughly a year, with coaches citing a lack of athleticism. He returned to Ridgeway Rovers before a brief spell at Watford’s academy, where a hat-trick against Tottenham’s youth side led Spurs to sign him instead. He progressed through Tottenham’s academy, reaching the club’s Under-18 side in 2009 and signing his first professional contract on his 16th birthday in July 2009.
During his early years at Tottenham, Kane was sent out on a series of loan spells to gain first-team experience, including at Leyton Orient, where he scored five goals in 18 matches, and later at Millwall, Norwich City, and Leicester City. He was named Millwall’s Young Player of the Year for the 2011-12 season.
Tottenham Hotspur
Kane made his first-team debut for Tottenham in a UEFA Europa League match against Hearts on 25 August 2011 and scored his first senior goal for the club that December in a match against Shamrock Rovers. After returning from his final loan spell, he established himself in Tottenham’s first team, starting his first full Premier League match in April 2014 and scoring in that game.
Over the course of his Tottenham career, Kane became one of the Premier League’s most consistent goalscorers, winning the league’s Golden Boot on multiple occasions and becoming the first player in Premier League history to score six hat-tricks in a single calendar year.
In February 2023, he broke Jimmy Greaves’ Tottenham scoring record, a mark that had stood since the club’s early history, going on to finish his Spurs career with 280 goals in 435 appearances, making him the club’s all-time leading scorer. Despite this remarkable individual output, Kane never won a major trophy during his time at Tottenham.

Bayern Munich
Kane joined Bayern Munich in the summer of 2023 and quickly became a central figure in the team’s attack. His first major trophy arrived in the 2024-25 season, when Bayern won the Bundesliga title, ending years of speculation about whether Kane would ever win a major honor.
Bayern retained the Bundesliga title in the 2025-26 season as well, with Kane’s form reaching new heights. He scored 61 goals in 51 appearances across all competitions that season, including 36 in the Bundesliga, 14 in the Champions League, and 9 in the DFB-Pokal. His Bundesliga tally earned him the European Golden Shoe for the season, finishing ahead of Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappé in the continental scoring standings. He has described that campaign as the best season of his career.
International career
Kane has captained the England national team since 2018. In March 2023, he surpassed Wayne Rooney’s previous record of 53 goals to become England’s all-time leading scorer, a tally that had reached 85 goals in 121 caps by July 2026. He won the FIFA World Cup Golden Boot as the tournament’s top scorer at the 2018 World Cup in Russia and has since represented England at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, UEFA Euro 2020, and UEFA Euro 2024.
He captained England at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which marked his third World Cup appearance for his country. He scored six goals and secured the bronze medal following a victory over France.
Personal life
Kane is married to Katie Goodland, his childhood sweetheart, whom he has known since they attended Larkswood Primary School together in East London. Together, they have four children.
In addition to his playing career, he launched the Harry Kane Foundation to support community development, children’s health, and mental health awareness. He is also a co-owner of the real estate firm Edwards James Investments. His career representation is handled directly by his older brother, Charlie Kane, who serves as his agent.
In recognition of his major contributions to the sport, Kane was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire in the 2019 New Year Honours list.
