What religion is Yuito Suzuki?
Yuito Suzuki is a Japanese professional footballer who has not publicly shared details about his personal religious beliefs. Like many Japanese athletes, he has not made any public declarations regarding a specific faith. In Japan, most people practice a combination of Shinto and Buddhism culturally, though many do not identify strictly with a single organized religion.

He is a product of Municipal Funabashi High School’s prestigious football program. In 2020, he joined J1 League side Shimizu S-Pulse to begin his professional career before moving on a permanent transfer to Danish Superliga club Brøndby IF in 2023. SC Freiburg then signed him in 2025 for a transfer fee worth approximately €8 million. Early life
Born on 25 October 2001 in Hayama, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, Suzuki began his youth development with the Yokohama F. Marinos Tsurumi primary school team in the third grade. After missing promotion to the club’s junior youth squad, he returned to local grassroots football to play for Hayama Junior High School. He continued a less conventional developmental path outside the traditional professional academy pipeline by attending Ichiritsu Funabashi High School.
Club career
Following his graduation from Ichiritsu Funabashi High School in 2019, Suzuki turned professional by signing with J1 League club Shimizu S-Pulse ahead of the 2020 season. He made his senior professional debut on 4 July 2020, starting as an attacking midfielder during a league fixture against Nagoya Grampus. The following year, in March 2021, he scored his first professional goal against Vegalta Sendai in a 1–0 away victory. He saw limited first-team minutes in France, making three appearances, but scored his first Ligue 1 goal on 16 April 2023 during a 3–1 victory against AC Ajaccio. He also featured for the club’s reserve side, Strasbourg II, before returning to Shimizu S-Pulse upon the expiration of his loan agreement that summer.
