What religion is Jérémy Jacquet?

Jérémy Jacquet is a French professional footballer whose religion is not publicly disclosed, but his personal social media presence indicates a Judeo-Christian belief or monotheistic faith.

On his official Instagram account, Jacquet explicitly includes the Hebrew name “YHWH” (Yahweh) alongside the word “FAITH!” in his profile bio. Aside from these personal expressions of his spirituality, the French footballer has not publicly discussed his specific religious background or practice in media interviews.

Jérémy Jacquet plays as a centre-back for Premier League club Liverpool. Jacquet began his professional career at Rennes in 2023 before completing a £55 million transfer to Liverpool in February 2026. He scored on his debut as Liverpool ended their pre-season campaign with a 2-0 win over Serie A side Como.

Early life

Born on 13 July 2005 in Bondy, France, Jacquet began his youth development with AS Outre Mer du Bois l’Abbé between 2011 and 2013. He then moved to RC Joinville, where he stayed to train for six years. In 2019, at age 14, he made a major step up by joining the youth academy at Rennes.

Rennes

Jérémy Jacquet moved up to Rennes’ reserve team in 2022. He made his professional debut for the senior squad on 13 January 2024, coming on as a late substitute in a 2–0 win over Nice. Shortly after, he joined fellow French club Clermont Foot on loan for the rest of the 2023–24 season. The loan agreement was subsequently extended for the 2024–25 campaign following Clermont Foot’s relegation to Ligue 2, allowing him to secure regular senior first-team experience. In February 2025, Rennes recalled Jacquet from his loan early to address structural defensive needs within their own senior squad.

Upon his return, Jacquet established himself as a regular starter during the 2025–26 campaign, recording 18 Ligue 1 appearances prior to the formalization of his transfer to Liverpool. However, his great progress was hit by a major setback on February 7, 2026. He suffered a serious shoulder injury after a heavy fall during a 3–1 loss against RC Lens. The injury forced an extended period on the sidelines, totaling 31 appearances across all competitions for Rennes since his senior debut.

Liverpool

On transfer deadline day, 2 February 2026, Liverpool reached an agreement with Rennes for the transfer of Jacquet, securing the player ahead of Chelsea, who had previously negotiated personal terms. The reported transfer fee was £55 million, plus £5 million in add-ons. Under the terms of the agreement, Jacquet remained with Rennes for the remainder of the 2025–26 campaign before officially completing his move to Liverpool on 1 July 2026. He signed a five-year contract running until June 2031, which included a club option for an additional one-year extension.

International career

Jérémy Jacquet played for France’s youth teams across every age group from the under-17s up to the under-20 squad. His consistent growth earned him a promotion to the French under-21 national team in 2025.

By the time he completed his big summer transfer to Liverpool, he had played five matches for the under-21 team. This international run included being named in the squad for the under-21 European Championship qualifying matches. Jacquet has not yet played a match for the senior France national team.

Personal life

Jérémy Jacquet holds dual nationalities of France and Guadeloupe.
